One of the major reasons I started this blog was to help other people learn about how to become an event planner or how to improve their skills for the business. In fact, I never personally went to school for hospitality and everything I know now is from on the job training or research. Event planning is one of those things that you can stumble upon and, if you have a passion or knack for it, you can find success quickly.
As an example, I recently read a post on The Everygirl blog about how Mindy Weiss got her start…and it was in designing event stationary! I’ve also listened to a lot of episodes from Debbie Quain’s podcast All Weddings For a Living and she too is adamant that you don’t need to get a wedding planner certification to start your career.
Instead, try the following suggestions to get a feel for and break into the business.
