First of all, I am not a procrastinator. I don’t leave things until tomorrow that can get done today and I definitely don’t expect someone else will magically pick up where I left off. I am obsessed with details, flow, and logistics. I love my job and being the most detail-oriented person in the room gives me a lady-boner. But when it came to my own wedding, I was the worst.
Mr. Smith and I (yes, we are Mr. and Mrs. Smith) got engaged in Italy in May. It wasn’t until mid-June that I even sent out some casual feelers to various venues about their wedding availability and options. I imagine some people would get a ring on their finger and immediately start having a conversation about when, where, and all the intricate details. But you have to understand that I was an event planner at a hotel in New York City that had a rooftop so summer was our absolute busiest season. As soon as I came home from that romantic trip, I was immediately inundated with work.
It wasn’t until weeks later that my fiance and I even discussed when we might want to actually tie the knot. CONTINUE READING
